On the afternoon of 12 October 2022, the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Higher-Order-Thinking Skills Training for ASEAN Educators was successfully held. Ms. Li Yaying, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Ms. Zin Mar Htwe, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Myanmar in China, Mr. Yaya Sutarya, Education and Cultural Attaché of Embassy of Indonesia in China, Mr. Chindavong Xaiyasin, Education and Culture Counsellor of Embassy of Lao PDR in China, and Prof. Zhang Minxuan, Director of UNESCO Teacher Education Centre (UNESCO TEC) attended and addressed the opening ceremony online.
Ms. Li Yaying stated that in the era of information, network and intelligence, it is a new task for all educators and new requirement of the times for future citizens to be equipped with higher-order-thinking abilities such as judgment, decision-making, re-organisation and innovation. This training is of great significance to build up a platform for sharing experience, improving teaching methodology, and enhancing friendship, which is also an attempt that ACC has made to promote education equity and opportunities of advancement for teachers and students. It is hoped that relevant parties could jointly make due contributions to the equitable and comprehensive development of education in the region.
This 3-day training is co-hosted by ACC and UNESCO TEC, with nearly 1,200 educators from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR and Myanmar. The training covers Higher-Order-Thinking Skills in China’s New Curriculum, Evaluation and Exploration of Students’ Higher-Order Thinking, as well as Demonstration Classes. Nearly 8,000 Chinese educators watched the live-streaming online.
