Recently, H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), gave an exclusive written interview to the Global Times newspaper, answering questions on topics including the upcoming 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Thailand and ASEAN-China cooperation. The interview was published in the Global Times Chinese and English newspapers and its Chinese and English websites respectively.
Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun said that ASEAN-China relations have maintained stable and continued development, becoming the stabiliser, ballast and propeller for the region and the world. Steady progress has been made in the building of ASEAN-China Community with a shared future, and tangible benefits have been shared by the people on both sides. In the next step, the two sides should further implement the consensus reached by the leaders and strengthen cooperation in various areas such as agriculture and food security, green economy, digital economy, public health and blue economy to ensure sustainable growth and inject new impetus into regional development. It is hoped that at this APEC meeting, progress will be made on trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation, as well as on sustainable development and green growth. It is expected that together, ASEAN Member States and China will make a stronger Asian voice at the APEC platform and make due contribution to the economic recovery and common development in the region.
