On 26 February 2023, H.E. Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Ambassador Hou Yanqi of China to ASEAN in Jakarta.
Secretary-General Shi said that, in the post-pandemic era, ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China share the common aspiration to fully tap on cooperation potential, achieve steady recovery and seek long-term development. The ACC stands ready to work with the Chinese Mission to ASEAN to see to it that the consensus between the leaders on both sides be implemented and the ASEAN-China Year of Agricultural Development and Food Security Cooperation be brought into full play. In this regard, both sides can make the best use of various resources, optimize the overall planning, so as to bring the pragmatic cooperation between China and ASEAN countries to a higher level.
Ambassador Hou welcomed Secretary-General Shi on his first visit to AMS since assuming office and spoke highly of the ACC’s role in promoting development of China-ASEAN relations. She said that the Chinese Mission is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the ACC, and materialise concrete projects in such fields as culture, education, tourism, youth, sports and media, in a concerted effort to consolidate public support for China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
