From 27 February to 1 March 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) exchanged views respectively with Ms. Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, Vice-Chairwoman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Meidyatama Suryodiningrat (Dimas), President Director of Antara News Agency, and Mr. Taufiq Rahman, Editor-in-Chief of the Jakarta Post during his visit to Indonesia.
Secretary General Shi said that, since its establishment, the ACC has been actively playing the role of an inter-governmental organisation. Aiming at implementing the important consensus reached by leaders of ASEAN and China , the ACC is committed to promoting economic, trade and investment, people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between the two sides. The ACC is willing to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Indonesian business community and media sectors, jointly enhancing the level of cooperation between China and ASEAN Member States with Indonesia included in the fields of economy, trade and investment, media, and youth.
The Indonesian side appreciated ACC’s active and important role in promoting the all-round cooperation between ASEAN and China, and said that as two large developing countries and emerging economies, Indonesia and China enjoy solid foundations and great potential for cooperation, and are becoming the important driving force for the post-pandemic recovery in the region. As Indonesia assumes the ASEAN chairmanship in 2023, they are willing to strengthen exchanges with the ACC, enhance complementarity through more resource sharing, and promote practical cooperation in the fields of investment and trade promotion, small and medium-sized enterprises facilitation, energy transformation, sub-national cooperation, and people-to-people bonds.
