From 2 to 3 March 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) respectively met with H.E. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia, Mr. Alex Yeow, Chief Executive Officer of Star Media Group, and Mr. Koo Cheng, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sin Chew Daily.
Secretary General Shi said that as an inter-governmental organisation, jointly established by ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China, the ACC is always committed to promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two sides. The ACC will continue acting as the bridge and platform for strengthening the communication and cooperation with Malaysia’s education and media sectors, jointly enhance the level of cooperation between China and AMS with Malaysia included, and make new contribution to forging closer bonds between the peoples.
The Malaysian side said that Malaysia and China have a traditional and profound friendship, possess similar and interlinked cultures, and have good foundations for cooperation in education and media, with fruitful results and broadened prospects. They appreciate ACC’s critical role in promoting ASEAN-China’s people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, and are willing to work with ACC to further explore pratical cooperation and attain new achievements in the promotion of cooperations among universities, the education of international students, and the enhancement of regional media influence and co-sponsored media events between the two countries.
