From 18 to 20 April 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) exchanged views on media cooperation with Dante Ang II, Chairman of The Manila Times, Cecilia Ramos-Major, Senior Vice President of CNN Philippines, and Lim Cheavutha, CEO of Fresh News of Cambodia, in Manila and Phnom Penh.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun briefed the aforesaid media on the ACC’s work and said that, as an inter-governmental organization, the ACC has always been committed to promoting media exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN and China, helping more Chinese people learn about and better understand ASEAN, and making the China story well told among the ASEAN peoples. The ACC looks forward to the mainstream media of ASEAN Member States (AMS) for more attention to and active participation in activities of the ACC. The ACC will continue to play its role as a bridge of people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China, actively align the needs of cooperation of media from both sides, increase interaction between media personnel on both sides, and steadily push forward the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
The media representatives appreciated the ACC's long-term commitment to upholding ASEAN centrality, enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of ASEAN and China, and contributing to the development of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. They expressed willingness to strengthen communication and exchanges with the ACC and help the ACC enhance its visibility in AMS, in an effort to improve the level of ASEAN-China media cooperation, consolidating public opinion and popular support for the sound long-term development of ASEAN-China relations.
