On 6 June 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) welcomed a visiting delegation of young diplomats headed by Mr. Kyaw Nyun Oo, Deputy Director General of Political Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, at the ACC.
In his welcoming remarks, Secretary General Shi highlighted the committed and continued endeavors by the ACC to enhance amicable ties and fruitful cooperation between ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China in the past 12 years since the establishment of the ACC in 2011. He stressed that China and Myanmar share a time-honored neighborhood, deep-rooted friendship and trusted partnership. Both China and AMS look forward to a greater role to played by Myanmar, the current country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, in bringing forth more tangible benefits for the countries and peoples in the region.
DDG Kyaw Nyun Oo expressed his appreciation to China’s leading and contributing role in helping achieve a stable, sustainable and inclusive development of Mekong countries, Myanmar included, through concrete cooperation under the mechanism of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC). Myanmar is always thankful to the valuable assistance rendered by the Chinese friends and looks forward to an even stronger relationship in the years to come. He reaffirmed Myanmar’s continued support to the ACC.
