On 6 June 2023, the 2023 ASEAN Media Partners Forum was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) delivered a video message at the Forum upon invitation.
Secretary General Shi pointed out that media from the two sides play an important role in beefing up ASEAN-China friendly cooperation and heart-to-heart communication, enhancing mutual trust, and promoting regional peace and development. The ACC will continue to work with media from both sides, and make fresh contribution to the growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
Dignitaries including Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam and Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith delivered video messages to the forum. They reviewed achievements of their countries’ cooperation with China in multiple areas including news and information, and expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation as well as ASEAN-China cooperation through the power of media.
Mr. Shen Haixiong, President and Editor-in-Chief of the China Media Group (CMG), said in his remarks that the media on the two sides should work hand in hand, unite and continue to tell stories of win-win cooperation, letting the consensus of "good neighbors, good friends, good partners" take root, sprout, blossom and bear fruit in people's hearts.
The Forum was co-hosted by CMG and the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, under the theme of “Innovation, Hand in Hand, Future”. Over 200 media professionals, representatives, experts and scholars from ASEAN Member States and China attended the forum, exploring new cooperation channels and witnessing the fresh progress of cooperation between the two sides.
