SG Shi Zhongjun Publishes Article on China Daily

On 19 September 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) published an article entitled “Move Forward with ASEAN Amid Challenges” on China Daily newspaper as well as on its website, to interpret the outcomes of the 26th ASEAN-China Summit and share his outlook on ASEAN-China relations.

In the article, Secretary General Shi elaborated on the factors behind ASEAN’s success, which now stands out as one of the most dynamic regions leading global economic recovery against the backdrop of a changing and challenging world. He pointed out that the one important factor is ASEAN’s establishment of a multi-tiered and effectively-managed architecture of regional cooperation together with its dialogue partners, among which ASEAN-China relations have long been one of the most vibrant and productive ties. 

Secretary General Shi expressed expectation that both ASEAN and China should strengthen strategic dialogue and mutual trust, continue to deepen economic integration, pursue innovation-driven growth and garner strength from public support. He stressed that the ACC will remain committed to keeping ASEAN-China relations and cooperation at the forefront of the times, and join hands with its partners and stakeholders to make the region an epitome of development and a promising land for cooperation.
