SG Shi Zhongjun Attends Related Activities of the 20th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit

From 16 to 18 September 2023, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in related activities in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, during the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS). Upon invitations, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC attended the opening ceremony of the 20th CAEXPO and CABIS. The ACC co-sponsored the 2023 Roundtable Conference on ASEAN-China Industrial Cooperation and “Two Countries, Twin Parks” Project Sharing. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Second China-ASEAN Forum on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology and the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum & Conference on the 20th Anniversary of CABIS, and delivered a keynote speech at the Third China-ASEAN Civil Aviation Cooperation Forum.

At these events, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun introduced the role played by the ACC in promoting economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN Member States (AMS) and China. He noted that global instability, uncertainty and unpredictability are increasing and industrial cooperation is facing challenges and risks. In this context, the close ties and cooperation between ASEAN and China are invaluable. Both sides have jointly created the most dynamic and promising model of regional cooperation in the world. He called on the business communities of ASEAN and China to work together and optimize industrial cooperation, remove trade and investment barriers and unreasonable restrictions, foster a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment, so as to further promote the regional economic recovery and prosperity, and continuously refresh up and enrich the meaning of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of CAEXPO and CABIS. Over the years, the ACC has actively participated in various forms of activities under these two frameworks, and spared no efforts to promote bilateral practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
