On 6 November 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with the visiting delegation from ASEAN Secretariat and Permanent Missions of the ASEAN Member States (AMS) to ASEAN, headed by H.E. Deputy Secretary General Tran Duc Binh of ASEAN.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun warmly welcomed DSG Tran and his delegation, most of whom visited the ACC for the first time. He highlighted the ACC’s latest achievements in promoting ASEAN-China exchanges and cooperation in 2023. He stated the ACC looks forward to receiving continued guidance and support from the ASEAN Secretariat and AMS, and working together to fulfil the common mission of boosting ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
DSG Tran expressed appreciation to the ACC’s contribution to deepening the ASEAN-China pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges through various activities. He reaffirmed the support from the ASEAN Secretariat to the ACC in promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between ASEAN and China towards better connectivity, stronger resilience and sustainable growth in the region.
Representatives from Permanent Missions of AMS to ASEAN also exchanged views with the ACC directors on various topics, including further strengthening ASEAN-China exchanges in 2024, announced as ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges. They expressed willingness to enhance collaboration with the ACC in the future.
On the morning of 6 November, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun was invited to attend and address the opening ceremony of the “Golden Harvest Tour” programme for the delegation. The programme is organized by the Chinese Mission to ASEAN, with Communication University of China as the academic partner.
