On 1 December 2023, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand during his visit to Thailand, and had exchanges on strengthening tourism cooperation between China and Thailand.
SG Shi briefly introduced the work of the ACC, with a focus on its cooperation with member countries in projects related to promotions of tourism destinations, boosting two-way tourism development and capacity building for tourism practitioners. He emphasized that the ACC welcomes future cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Thai Embassy in China within the above project framework, and looks forward to actively explore further endeavour so as to promote regional tourism industry recovery and connection among people from both sides.
Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol welcomed SG Shi and the ACC delegation, noting that China has rich and diverse tourism resources, and two way tourism helps people to learn from each other and make important contribution to the relationship between the two countries. She briefly introduced the supporting policies to tourism industry in Thailand and expressed her hope to strengthen cooperation with the ACC,especially starting with more effective measures to raise the positive image of Thai tourism destinations and personnel training, so that the Chinese people can better understand the real Thailand and continue to improve Thailand’s attractiveness to Chinese tourists.
