On 6 December 2023, co-sponsored by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Changzhi Municipal People’s Government of Shanxi Province, a promotional event “Magnificent Taihang---Meet Changzhi @ ACC” was successfully held at the ACC Secretariat. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, Minister Counselor Zin Mar Htwe, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Myanmar (country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations), Executive Vice Mayor Cui Yuanbin of Changzhi Municipal Government and diplomats from seven embassies of ASEAN Member States (AMS) in China were present.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun underlined that the ACC has long been committed to promoting friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between AMS and Chinese localities, and always stands ready to offer a bigger platform for strengthening cooperation between AMS and the Chinese cities such as Changzhi, blessed with profound history, rich culture, and natural charm. The ACC believes that the event will add more strength to promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhance mutual trust and friendship between ASEAN and China, thus injecting vitality into the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
DCM Zin Mar Htwe, on behalf of the AMS Embassies in China, said that such cultural and tourism promotional events could help AMS know more about Chinese localities and get a better understanding of China. Executive Vice Mayor Cui Yuanbin thanked the ACC for its tremendous support in making the event possible. He briefed the guests on Changzhi’s historical heritages, unique culture as well as the latest achievements in economic and social development. He invited the friends from ASEAN countries to visit Changzhi and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Taihang Mountains.
At the event, the guests enjoyed Changzhi intangible cultural heritage promotion and artistic performances, and tasted delicious local special delicacies.
