On the afternoon of 6 December 2023, the Delegation of King Prajadhipok’s Institute (KPI), which consists of the President Prof. Dr. Borwornsak Uwann of the KPI Social Enterprise, Senators of the Thai Parliament and 40 student representatives from Thailand, visited the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC). H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC met with the delegation. Senior officers from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and a representative from the Chinese Embassy in Thailand joined the meeting.
In his welcoming remarks, SG Shi Zhongjun pointed out that amid the multiple current global challenges in the fields of geopolitics and climate change, ASEAN and China need to expand consensus for cooperation on the basis of equality, respect, and friendship, to work together to promote regional prosperity and stability, and to build a better world. He encouraged the youth to continuously deepen ASEAN-China friendship and blaze new grounds for ASEAN-China relations.
Prof. Dr. Borwornsak Uwann expressed his gratitude to the ACC’s reception. He emphasized that the cooperation between ASEAN and China not only has crucial regional geopolitical and economic significance, but also has significant global influence. While strengthening cooperation in the political and economic fields, ASEAN and China should further promote youth exchanges to deepen cultural and people-to-people bonds.
Student representative spoke on behalf of the group and shared her experiences and insights from participating in this programme. The ACC Division Directors attended the event and had exchanges with student representatives from Thailand. The atmosphere in the meeting was warm and friendly, a fruitful discussion was held.
