On 13 March 2024, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. Soeung Rathchavy, the newly-appointed Ambassador of Cambodia to China.
Secretary General Shi congratulated Ambassador Soeung Rathchavy on her assumption of office, and extended appreciation for the sustained support rendered by the Embassy to the ACC. He stressed that, against the backdrop of a bleak global economic rebound and geopolitical situation, ASEAN-China relations are of great significance in maintaining peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world at large. Cambodia stands out as a close neighbor and ironclad friend of China and an active contributor to ASEAN-China cooperation. The ACC looks forward to working closely with the Embassy in such fields as trade, investment, tourism and education, in the purpose of adding more strength to a sustained and productive growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership and advancement of Cambodia-China community with a shared future.
Ambassador Soeung Rathchavy expressed her appreciation to the ACC for its crucial role in promoting ASEAN-China and Cambodia-China relations and cooperation. She stressed that, with its longstanding support and trustworthy partnership, China has always been viewed as one of the strongest dialogue partners to ASEAN. ASEAN attaches great importance to tapping potential for mutually beneficially cooperation with China towards achieving win-win results. This year marks the Cambodia-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges, in parallel with 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges. Cambodia stands ready to put into practice various activities and programs in close collaboration with the ACC, aiming at boosting economic recovery in Cambodia, especially attracting more Chinese tourists visiting Cambodia in the years to come. The Embassy will be also dedicated to supporting the endeavors of the ACC in further facilitating friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between ASEAN-China as well as between Cambodia and China.
