The ACC Hosts the 9th Tripartite Meeting with SEAMEO and CAECW Secretariat

On 18 March 2024, the 9th tripartite meeting among the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and the Secretariat of Organizing Committee of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) was successfully held in Beijing at the ACC secretariat. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, Director Datuk Dr. Habibah binti Abdul Rahim of SEAMEO and Dr. Zou Lianke, Secretary-General of CAECW Secretariat and Director General of Guizhou Provincial Department of Education led the delegation to join the event. 

During the meeting, the parties lauded the restoration of the tripartite meeting mechanism since 2023 which was interrupted during the pandemic. The three sides reached final consensus on renewing of the Tripartite Agreement, identified the areas and timeline for the Action Plan, and held in-depth discussion on the upcoming 2024 CAECW under the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges. 

Bilateral meeting between the ACC and SEAMEO was held to discuss further synergized efforts of the two inter-governmental organizations in youth digital capacity building, TVET cooperation as well as practical research to facilitate bilateral cooperation in education, science and culture. 

In the afternoon, the ACC organised a digital education visit to Beijing No. 2 Middle School (Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town) and Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronic Technology Company Limited (CVTE) in Beijing for SEAMEO delegation and embassy diplomats in charge of education affairs from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The delegation was deeply impressed by the development of technologies related to advanced digital education and their extensive application in China.
