On 25 April 2024, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Binzhou Municipal People's Government co-sponsored the ASEAN-China (Binzhou) Industrial Cooperation and Bilateral Investment Conference in Beijing. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

Shi Zhongjun noted that recent years witnessed an increasingly close economic cooperation and trade between Shandong Province and ASEAN, which enjoy a strong and significant industrial complementarity. Binzhou City stands out as the front runner of Shandong in terms of conducting cooperation with ASEAN. Its high-end aluminium industry, fine chemical industry, intelligent textile and other industries are highly in line with the demands of the ASEAN market, boasting a broad space for cooperation between both sides. He suggested that efforts be made to achieve the integrated development of the production and supply chain on the basis of industrial cooperation, and more significance be attached to emerging areas such as green development, clean energy and digital economy, so as to promote the growth of regional economy through the innovation-driven “new quality productive force”.

Mayor Li Chuntian of Binzhou City, Deputy Director Li Yongsen of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province, Minister Counsellor Irwansyah Mukhlis of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China, Minister Counsellor Wantana Tatan of the Royal Thai Embassy in China, Commercial Counsellor Khouanchay Iemsouthi of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in China, representatives from Embassies of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of the Philippines in China and about 100 representatives were present.
