On 30 April 2024, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) organized a field visit to Baidu for diplomats from Embassies of ASEAN Member States (AMS) including Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore. The diplomats toured the exhibition hall of Baidu, experienced the driverless vehicles and had an exchange of views with Baidu’s management.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC underlined that, with the penetrating growth of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, the digital economy has become a new frontier of industrial cooperation in the region. Both ASEAN and China regard digital economy as a strategic focus to open up broad prospects for future cooperation. The ACC stands ready to take the visit as an opportunity to promote, deepen and enhance practical cooperation between AMS and Baidu in digital economy.
The ASEAN diplomats were briefed on Baidu’s latest lineup of products, technologies and services. Both sides exchanged views on Baidu’s current cooperation programs in AMS, its edge-cutting products and technologies, and better tapping potential of market in AMS.
