On 14 July, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met in Kunming of Yunnan Province with Consul General Ms. Bhavivarn Noraphallop of Thailand, Consul General Mr. Thwin Htet Lin of Myanmar and other diplomats from the Consulates General of Malaysia and Laos.
Shi Zhongjun expressed his appreciation to the AMS diplomats on behalf of the ACC for the latter’s support to the upcoming ASEAN-China Youth Basketball Tournament and Cultural Exchanges to be held in Malipo of Wenshan Prefecture. Shi Zhongjun stressed that, under the framework of the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges, both sides should work together to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in such fields as education, culture, tourism, youth, sports and media towards deeper mutual trust and understanding between the peoples, especially youth communities, on both sides, so as to better serve long-term growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership. The AMS diplomats all applauded the active and productive role played by the ACC in promoting practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China, and looked forward to further involvement into the ACC activities and programs in the future.
