Wang Yi Congratulates the Opening of ASEAN-China Week 2024 Events

     On 12 August 2024, H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, sent a congratulatory message upon the opening of ASEAN-China Week 2024 events in Changzhi City of Shanxi Province.
 
     In his message, Wang Yi highlighted the fact that significant progress has been achieved in advancing the ASEAN-China community with a shared future, since H.E. President Xi Jinping and the leaders of ASEAN Member States announced the establishment of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2021. The building of a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful, and amicable homeland has yielded rich fruits, bringing more than 2 billion people on both sides closer through fostering mutual respect, mutual understanding, amity and solidarity.
 
     Wang Yi underlined that ASEAN and China, as friendly neighbors and emerging markets, boast enormous potential in the growth of relations between the two sides. Themed on “Achieving Prosperity through Innovation”, the ACW2024 will present all the participants a great platform to further explore new areas for ASEAN-China cooperation. Wang Yi proposed that the two sides seize the opportunities in a new era defined by sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation, leverage the complementary advantages, accelerate coordinated development, and jointly foster new quality productive forces in the region, so as to add new strength to the momentum of development for individual countries in the region, bring forth fresh impetus to regional stability and prosperity, and contribute more to the building of a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
