The ACC Hosts Ambassador of Thailand to China

On 16 August 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun hosted the visiting Ambassador Chatchai Viriyavejkul of Thailand to China at the ASEAN-China Centre.

Shi Zhongjun warmly welcomed Ambassador Chatchai on the first visit to the ACC after his assumption of office, and thanked the Thai side for its firm and sustained support to the ACC. SG Shi also expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Chatchai for his attending the just-concluded ASEAN-China Week(ACW)2024 activities and sharing his insights on promoting quality cooperation in emerging industries between ASEAN countries and China, garnering public support to ASEAN-China relations and enhancing exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations. Looking ahead, the ACC looks forward to strengthening its close ties with Thailand, unlocking potential ASEAN-China cooperation on trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges, raising the public awareness of ASEAN-China relations in the peoples of our region, thus consistently enriching ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Ambassador Chatchai spoke highly of the ACC’s vital contribution to the growth of ASEAN-China relations, and congratulated the ACC on its successful sponsorship of the ACW2024, one of its annual flagship projects, which serves not only as a facilitating bridge between ASEAN Member States and Chinese provinces and cities, helping them better share resources, match demands and materialize collaboration, but also a great platform to better enhance ASEAN-China people-to-people exchanges. The Year of 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. The Thai Embassy in Beijing looks forward to drawing on the ACC’s integrated resources and jointly staging various celebration activities, so as to consolidate special friendship between both countries as close as one family and elevate ASEAN-China relations to a new level.
