Shi Zhongjun Exchanges Views with Former FM of Indonesia

On 1 December 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Dr. N. Hassan Wirayuda, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia and Dean of School of Law and International Studies at Prasetiya Mulya University, and exchanged views on the development of ASEAN-China relations in the new era.

Dr. Hassan was introduced to the function and main tasks of the ACC, and spoke highly of the ACC's crucial role in promoting practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China. He looked forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation between the ACC and the think-tank institutes he heads, conducting more in-depth research on Asia's development, and drawing wisdom on how to further promote mutual understanding between ASEAN and China, thus contributing to safeguarding regional peace and prosperity.

Shi Zhongjun shared his views on ASEAN-China relations and the new situation in the region. He said that in the face of growing uncertainties in today's world, ASEAN and China, as the foremost pillars of Asia's development, have joined hands to jointly develop and promote cooperation, playing an irreplaceable role in driving our region to remain the most stable, dynamic and sustainable highland of the global economy. Leveraging its bridging role, the ACC will continue to bring together the mutual benefits of ASEAN-China cooperation, make relentless efforts to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples, and strengthen cooperation with think tanks in ASEAN member states, including Indonesia, to provide intellectual support for the development of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at a high level, and bring together the eminent scholars in building a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
