On 15 March 2025, the “Nihao China! Amazing Dazu” Global Tourism Promotion activity kicked off in Chongqing, China. Co-hosted by the China Tourism News (CTN) and the Dazu District People’s Government, this event gathered up to 100 delegates from China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, provincial tourism authorities, and diplomats from the Embassies of China’s major inbound tourist market nations, international organizations, academia, domestic and foreign key opinion leaders (KOLs), travel agencies and media.
The ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to be a supporting organization and organized ten diplomats from the Embassies of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam in China to attend this event. The diplomats were impressed by the magnificent Dazu Rock Carvings, which deepened their understanding and appreciation to the Chinese history and culture.
Director Hadi Tjahjono of the Division of Education, Culture and Tourism of the ACC delivered remarks at the Launching Ceremony and introduced the ACC’s activities in 2024 and 2025 to support the ASEAN-China tourism exchanges and cooperation. He also expressed the ACC’s readiness to keep promoting the two-way tourist flow between China and ASEAN Member States in the ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges.
The Global Promotion activity was part of Dazu’s culture and tourism promotion initiatives to highlight its world heritage listed by UNESCO, the Dazu Rock Carvings, and efforts to build itself into a China National Tourist Resort, and to enhance the integration of tourism industry with ecological protection, health care and rural rejuvenation.
