On March 19, the General Display of the Second My Story with China Video Display Event for ASEAN Students in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Area was successfully held at Tianjin Normal University. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Vice Mayor Zhang Ling of Tianjin Municipal Government, Director General Yu Yunfeng of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation(CLEC) of the Chinese Ministry of Education addressed the event. Secretary General Yang Jun of the China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE), Director General Lavanh Vongkhamsane of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, as well as representatives from the Embassies of ASEAN countries including Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, and the Philippines participated in the event. Nearly 1000 teachers and students from ASEAN countries and China also attended the event.
Shi Zhongjun emphasized that young people, as the new driving force behind ASEAN-China relations, play a crucial role in promoting long-lasting friendship and enhancing people-to-people exchanges. In light of the growing uncertainties and instabilities in the international situation, the steady and sound development of ASEAN-China relation not only benefits the region but also contributes to global peace and stability. The ACC has consistently prioritized youth exchanges and established platforms for youth cooperation and mutual learning. He encouraged ASEAN students to seize this opportunity to become not only storytellers but also “ambassadors” of friendship and promoters of cooperation between ASEAN and China.
Participants watched talent show with rich ASEAN and Chinese cultural elements performed by ASEAN and Chinese students, witnessed the unveiling of the Short Video event’s theme song, and presented awards to outstanding contestants aiming to inspire Chinese and foreign students to continue contributing to the construction of ASEAN-China community with a shared future.
The Second My Story with China Video Display Event for ASEAN Students in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Area jointly guided by the ACC and CLEC, was co-organized by the Beijing and Tianjin municipal commission of education, Hebei Provincial Department of Education, Tianjin Normal University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Hebei Normal University. Since its inception, the event has garnered significant attention and enthusiastic participation from students across the ten ASEAN countries. This year, for the first time, an overseas competition zone was set up, further expanding the brand’s influence. A total of over 500 short video entries were received from nearly 5000 contestants from the ten ASEAN countries.
